<INSIDE OUT> Group Exhibition, curated by Anna L Maloney & Gavin Turk

The last HACKNEY WICKED DIY OPEN STUDIOS kicked off this Friday 28th July 2017, with <INSIDE OUT> HW Group Show at Here East – London’s biggest open studios event; with Hackney Wick’s largest group show, showcasing over 30 local artists!

Curated by HWED Patron Gavin Turk & HWED Director Anna Maloney, the exhibition explored the issues the area faces with many artists losing studio space in a time of rapid redevelopment in the area, and the wealth of talent that naturally exists in Hackney Wick across all art forms and presents an insight to the inner working of an artist studio, outside the space

Gavin Turk was one of the artists to recently lose his warehouse studio – and I invited him to join the exhibition and work together to produce a version of his studio within the exhibition, whilst working with over 60 locally based artists to represent the ecosystem ‘the other side of the canal’ (to Here East and the Olympic Park) where most creatives are based.

About Anna Maloney
I have worked in destination marketing & communications for over 15 years. I worked with VisitBritain for 5 years to forge a strategic partnership for Liverpool 08: European Capital of Culture to deliver a 5 year global marketing communications plan, engaging cultural partners, artists and creative industries to reposition Liverpool as the 'Centre of the Creative Universe'! Since I've worked on major brands including the Royal Horticultural Society, Royal Albert Hall, Liverpool Sound City, Africa Oye, Morning Gloryville and I'm a co-Director of Hackney WickED Art Festival. I specialise in partnerships and bringing people together, along with an array of experience in developing strategy, project management, marketing comms, development of digital content, branding, curation/programming of events and artist liaison. I love working with like-minded people and collaborating internationally with artists, creative communities and co-working spaces.
